Hampden Optical does not use your insurance, but will help you file your claim so you will be directly reimbursed. This is actually a great thing. Why? What I loathe most about chains is the terrifically long wait while they tap away at their computer to work out price, processing various insurance codes. You know how Jen came up with my total? She used a calculator. It took less than a minute. And then she took my insurance ID numbers, I signed a form, and she sent it off to the insurance company for me. She knew the price of lenses, the price for frames, and she added it up. Boom. Done. My glasses came in within the week. They are fabulous. Comfortable. Unique. Look great. Jen followed up with me with a real card in the mail. She remembered our conversations. You don't get that anywhere else. There's a lot of benefit in bringing your business to a locally owned shop. Personable care is definitely one. I don't think I'll go to a chain again."
